Kyiv Camerata presented the first vinyl album of contemporary Ukrainian classical music “SPROMOZHNI” / “EMPOWERED”
On June 2, a concert-presentation of the album “Spromozhni” (“Empowered”) took place in Kyiv. It is the first vinyl release of contemporary Ukrainian classical music in Ukraine, performed by the Kyiv Camerata under the baton of Keri-Lynn Wilson.
The album includes works by Ukrainian composers of different generations: Oleksandr Kozarenko, Volodymyr Zubytskyi, Zoltan Almashi, and Oleksandr Rodin. Over the past few years, these compositions performed by Kyiv Camerata have resonated on leading global stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Berlin Philharmonic, presenting contemporary Ukrainian music to international audiences. The recording of the album took place in December 2025 at the Recording House of Ukrainian Radio — amidst blackouts and air raid sirens, which became another testament to the resilience of Ukrainian culture during the war.
The album was created within the cultural initiative “Spromozhni”, which supports Ukrainian artists during the war and promotes the development of relevant cultural projects. The release was realized with the support of MHP and the “MHP-Hromadi” Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the “Divis Ukrainske” (“Watch Ukrainian”) Association. The project’s producer is Andriy Rizol, who consistently works on the international representation of Ukrainian art. The visual concept of the album is based on the artistic photo project by Serhiy Mykhalchuk.
The concert-presentation of the record took place at the D.HUB.Art art gallery, with the support of Baker Tilly Ukraine, and became a landmark cultural event that brought together Ukrainian artists, diplomats, project partners, and international guests. A guest of honor at the event was Peter Gelb, General Manager of the Metropolitan Opera, who in his speech noted the high global level of Ukrainian composers and performers.
During the presentation Kyiv Camerata and the “Watch Ukrainian!” Association also announced their intentions to resume work on the Anthology of Contemporary Ukrainian Music — a series of audio albums featuring works by Ukrainian composers. Work on the anthology began more than ten years ago on the initiative of Valeriy Matyukhin and Bohdana Pivnenko. Recordings of the works are freely available on streaming platforms.
